Nice Break... thanks to Jaju....

Well, 22nd and 23rd went off pretty well roaming around in the city with Jaju. He had come to singapore since 17th April and was gungho on seeing the places. He also had lot of professional photographers stuff too..... one NIKON camera, one Sony handycam.... So on friday evening we met at city hall MRT station and walked towards Suntec City mall in order to catch a glimpse of FOUNTAIN OF WEALTH... but hard luck it was down for maintenance till 29th Apr. So went to Clarque Quay, had dinner, took some pics

at Clarke Quay
Then we headed for Merlion....getting taxi was quite difficult as we pronounced the name merlion as Merilion( Mer--lee--on).I somehow remembered it incorrectly. Finally managed a taxi.. with destination changed to esplanade( as that i remembered pronouncing correctly and it was close to Merlion)... on the way we tried again explaining the merlion and finally taxi driver also used his common sense to figure out what we were trying to say... so the correct pronunciation came out to be (Mer--Lion). The Esplanade view was simply stunning ... I was also seeing it for the first time at night... We spent most of the time taking pics of esplanade .. and later Merlion.

Jaju was anxious to do some shopping at Mustafa after that, so we took a cab... fortunately got a MERCEDES.... cool ride.... shopped till 2.00 AM when I decided to call it off a and head back for some studies.... by that time.... Jaju had not started on the original list items he had planned to buy.... was involved in impulse buying :-)....not unusual... always happen to me also... go with list of 2-3 items... and come back with 10-15 items.. in which one of the original list item is missing.......

Next morning when I landed up in Jajus guest house at 10.30 AM.... was stunned to hear that he is not back till then... waited for about 25 minutes when he finally showed up with the shopping items.... so the dude did a nightout... shopping at MUSTAFA..... We had planned to go to some more places but by the time he packed up all stuff it was 12.30 PM.. and he had a flight to INDIA in the evening.. so we had our lunch in TAMPINES MALL after a rigourous search for desi vegitarian food.... finally we reached back the guest house at around 4.45 PM. Took luggage and headed for the changi airport....hoping to get a taxi quickly.... unfortunately it didnt turned out that easy... tried for 15-20 minutes, then finally called up for a CAB. Below is the pic when jaju was anxiously waiting for a taxi.. looks like desperate ROMEO in search of JULIET :)

We reached airport around 5.30 PM. sufficient time to perform all departure activities smoothly... as flight departure was at 7 PM. The final pic..... (came a bit dark)...

It was a good break from studies .......

While the linguists and government people were debating to call Esplanade "Espla-nard" or "Espla-naid", most Singaporeans affectionately called the strange looking landmark "The Durians" :) The taxi drivers certainly know it by that name.

BTW, Mer-lion is a fictitious "half Mermaid, half Lion" creature, hence the name.
