Off to Chennai……..

When I came back from Singapore, had thought that I would spend time with family now and work location (Noida) would be close to home . But nopes HR of HCL Tech. had something else planned for me, Chennai (formerly called Madras) was my destination after induction. Anyways won’t mind as long as the work is good, challenging and as we have been re-emphasized during induction “value adding”. Let’s see!!!!

New Job!

First day of new job at HCL Technologies, Noida. Reched office 15 minutes early at 8.45 am and sat in auditorium room till 9.15 am ….only 2 more joined me in the room…one being dips…for a moment I thought wooh only 3 out of around 40 finally joined…then an admin person came ( don’t know who told him we were sitting in auditorium… thanks though he came ) and took us to other place to meet an HR person……there we came to know that the induction process will start from 2.30 pm….huum what to do till then…went out to nearby mall (centerstage at Noida) at around 10.00 am, strangely not many shops were open till that time….dips suggested good idea to pass time till 2.30….movie ….so watched “Spiderman-3 ” …decent one…not as bad as I heard from others. Finally induction started at 2.30 and went on till ard 6.15 pm as scheduled. Most of the speech from the president of the company Vineet Nayyar was already recorded …so just listened to the pre recorded version. I could feel the difference of impact of speech in real Vs being virtual, real stands out definitely as more living and interactive or maybe i am not used to such virtual speechs hehe. All said though speech of president was definitely inspiring :).

Looking forward to exciting and challenging times!

Akshardham Temple visit

My Uncle and aunt had come from Indore(M.P) and were going to USA to meet my cousin sister, their flight was scheduled to depart on 19th May early morning. We decided to go to Akshardham temple which was the latest attraction of new places to visit in Delhi.

Getting on board in Toyota Corolla :)
On the Way.......traffic is a big problem in delhi and with the development of metro project across delhi, its become more severe, especially around area i live. Hopefully public will have a much faster means to communicate once the project is finished.
Photography is banned inside the premises of the temple. So had to settle by taking snaps from outside..

Found a spot just outside to have some group pictures. Uncle & Aunt

from right mom, aunt and.....

Eat more chocolates!

Came across this interesting article while reading newspaper.…..which I rarely do these days. Thanks to the research work of science geek Arman Sadeghpour( Tulane University doctoral candidate).
Finding: Cocoa extract more effective than fluoride in fighting cavities. So eating more chocolates will prevent possible dentist visits.

Back to hometown in India!

Flied back to Delhi from Singapore today morning. Good 2 years spent…will like to go through same again if given a chance. Met interesting people and made new friends. Visited many places which I did not imagine I would ever. Though still not gratified with the arcade game playing J. Loads of good memories supplemented by around 4000 pictures.
Back to my good old room ….mom had kept it clean for long…but now I am back to mess it up again ;). As usual mosquitoes waiting for me to come to have a feast so needed something to keep them at bay.

Farewell before leaving!

Manish , Anshul and GuekHar gave farewell today before my departue from Singapore. Sort of mixed feelings : leaving some good friends and starting up at new place with new colleagues. ....Gift: professional looking organizer type diary ....being organized ;) hard for me.....maybe they also knew i need it desperately (knowing me for past 2 years) or will be kicked out pretty soon from the company I join in...thanks to them :).
Trying new methods of drinking soup from bowl......
Also had a coffee session with Tal in the evening at Starbucks :).

Oh ya ! and my old/new roomies(Prajit, Balu, Pramod and Jaewoo)...they had a feast a day before...my job party pending for long :).

Sharon's Wedding !

It was an honour for me when Sharon invited the Techno group members to her wedding at Raffles Hotel. First chance to attend a Chinese wedding in Singapore, though both Sharon and Leon are Chinese native. I was glad and delayed my journey back home, got some reason to stay longer in Singapore ;). It was a small gathering relative to what we have commonly in India.

Sharon happened to be the key source for our group in Technopreneurship module and also in the Synergy competition which we entered last year and won 2nd prize. It was all by luck that she happened to be part of our group when after listening to the first presentation of our groups idea she expressed her interest in joining the team. Kudos! to the great intellect and communication skills of this young soon to be PhD. candidate. Not much time left before we call her Dr.Sharon when she completes her thesis successfully. She was the Chief Technology Officer of our group. I must say all others learned a lot about diabetes through knowledge transfer from her and not to mention she was the front runner in handling most queries from judges(which happened to be venture capitalists) in the final presentation of our module. Sharon & Leon look a perfect fit. Made for each other type :). I was glad to be part of their wedding celebrations.
(from left Ann, Manish, Sharon, Leon, me , GuekHar and her kids Yu Siang and Jun Wei)
Abhinav(first from right) joined in for the lunch with his wife. He too has got married recently in Feb 07:).
The only missing member from Techno was Sophie, who was busy heading as financial controller for Michelin and is based out of Shanghai, China.
