Play- A Woman Alone

We went out with Srini to watch the play titled Woman Alone today. Have been searching through papers and net on the plays currently on in Chennai. Fortunately , the Chennai Times friday edition listed some plays running in the city with contact details.

About the Play:
The play was orgnaised by ANEW, an NGO working for empowermnet of women and credited with getting 4000 underprivileged women placed into the workforce. The play was split into 3 parts, first one showcasing the daily chores of a working wife (amusing as well as serious at times), the second one showing Meddia a woman abandoned by her husband for a new girl trying to cope with realties and challenging some of the society norms " to say" as dictated by men and last one the most amusing showcasing a woman locked by her husband in the house .... here the story of 3rd one. Each part was roughly 20 minutes act.

Experience:
1.Most striking was the people coming to watch the show. it didnt look like we were in Chennai as the audience seemed to quite sophisticated and high class.
2.The acts performed were well done. Not a regular visitor to theaters....this being the first one and enjoyed it thoroughly.
