Racing Indian Mobile Market

While reading an article on Economist online came across this figure. India is the worlds fastest growing mobile market. Looking back just around 7 years back the % increase in mobile connectivity is staggeringly high. Thanks to lowering of the regulations by the government and entry of many players into the market. When Reliance Communications created a world record by selling 1 million mobile phones within a week sometime back, it shook all other players in the market. Mobile connectivity has helped all and players like Reliance have helped it reach to a mass level by bringing the rates down to as low as Rs 700 (US $18). I got my first one Nokia 2100 for about Rs6500 (US $167) back in 2003. Another interesting comparison to see is the growth of wireless versus landline connections which have been there for decades.
