Books

You start with them at age of two or three

And then you binge on them even in your seventies

They are enthralling, exciting and full of insights

Provided you care to explore them when you make them part of your life

Lives and stories lived in imagination or

Of those who have lived them in real

A pathway to understanding yourself better

when a part of it seemed to be your personal experience ladder

You twist and toil with the characters portrayed

And you wonder how brilliant the author is in narrating the tale

At times you run through pages like a child's play

and others hold you captive for days

The variance is high based on what kind you read

but I am sure there is a kind for everyone in need.

Digitization has helped scroll through many online

But the rustic charm of paper wins hands down

Maybe it's just my liking

You may say I am old-fashioned kind

Finding time for them is challenge at times

But the impact they make lasts a lifetime

The more you read of different kinds

the more you open up your mind

No one to compete with- you digest them at your pace

Reflection and enjoyment are part of the game

They help improve vocabulary every time

your lexicon becomes a vantage point

With the flood of digitization and TikToks in everyday life

they struggle for your attention as they have depth and depth needs time

but holding on to them will always be your edge

So, be it digital or paperback

keep one by your side, through age two to seventy

that would be my humble advice
