Orphanage visit
...most naughty ones :)..
Rama sitting along with kids
view of orphanage from a distance
Tirumalai giving swing rounds
...chocolates in mouth with keenly seeking opportunity for more
left:orphanage owner along with kids and clothes distributed
..enjoying sweets distributed by a couple who had also come to the orphanage..
...Soaps handed over..
...front view of Orphanage...
As member of Community Service Council in HCL went to Orphanage near Avadi area in north Chennai to distribute clothes( donated by HCLites) and footwear(new) to the kids (43) . Also distributed soaps, biscuits and chocolates to all. It was good to see the kids and spend some time with them. The orphanage needs a lot more funding than currently available for taking care of all kids. The lady incharge was a nice and humble person but at times looked to be too harsh on kids. The kids age ranged from 1year to 12 years roughly. I had company of 3 company colleagues who are much actively in these initiatives than myself. Some were too naughty to control and some were too silent not willing to speak at all. Not knowing the local language (tamil) was another barrier in actively involving with the kids but that didnt hamper much...we still conversed with the help of other colleagues.

TV maniacs!
Came across this chart in daily charts section of the Economist. Appalling to see people spending as high as 1/3rd of their daily time on Television.

Sachin's Engagement
Travelled over weekend to Waynad(Kerala) for Sachin's engagement with Teena. Sachin is back in India for 3 weeks from UK and this time he could not escape without getting himself committed. Both make very good pair. In the picture he must be recalling the state just lost (bachelorhood)
Having food on banana leaf for lunch.

Peace of Mind
Interesting article I came across in company's monthly newsletter for the business unit I work for.
10 principles for Peace of Mind
01. Do not interfere in other's business unless
02. Forgive & Forget
03. Do not crave for recognition
04. Do not be jealous
05. Change Yourself according to the environment
06. Endure what cannot be cured
07. Do not bite off more than you can chew
08.Meditate regularly
09.Never leave the mind vacant
10.Do not procrastinate and never regret
To think of it I have practiced most except 1 (Meditating) unknowingly that it leads to peace of mind too. It is difficult to follow the principles all time which is OK to have as a human but one should strive towards it always.
